Directly following the events depicted in Knight Commander, Commander Jaime Knight and the protoype cruiser Avenger arrive at Hope Station in pursuit of Admiral Hayes. Although Confederate propaganda portrayed the station and its inhabitants as nothing short of selfish traitors, Knight and Teri discover that first-hand experience is the best way to acquire knowledge. Reunited with her family while the ship undergoes repairs by the station’s giant facilities, Teri elects to stay with her older brothers on their farm and invites Knight to join them. Visiting Hope Station allows Knight to come into contact with the charismatic leader, Governor-General Marcia Batenedes, who makes Knight an offer she may not refuse.
Status: Draft Zero
Trivia:
- When the length of Knight Commander reached well over 100,000 words, it was broken into two parts. Knight on Hope Station is the second half.
- The character of Marcia Batenedes is an homage to Star Trek: The Next Generation’s episode, “Tapestry.”
- The frigate RNV Persephone is a nod to a player-character in the old Hope Station RPG (also created by R. A. Michaels, currently unavailable).
